Last week JH, Joel (Jh's friend), Jenzi, Stacy and I went to Gothenburg for the weekend woooo! I was really excited as it was the first time im going to an amusement park in Europe and Gothenburg had the tallest free falling ride in Europe, i was so excited for that! When i was younger i never really liked amusement parks cause i was always either pissing or shitting my pants during the rides and i kept thinking i was going to die by flying out of the viking ship or the 360 roller coaster. Now that i am older and i understand physics alot better, amusement parks dont scare me! (okay they still do but not as much as i try to reason with myself that it should be safe) My favourite rides are always the roller coasters and the freefall, i hate the viking ship and those spinning teacups, those are the games that should only be used for torture. Yes so i was really looking forward to this mini day trip! I have been to several theme parks before and still everytime i am going to one my palms get all sweaty and my heart starts to pump real hard.
Bus ride to Gothenburg takes 4 hours! We actually woke up at 6am to catch the 7am bus so on the bus all of us were like really dead sleepy
sweden and its land
we have the whole bus to ourselves! cause no one other than crazy singaporeans would wake up at 6am to get this bus timing. Jenzi looks surprisingly awake in this picture
On exchange, when you see something close to home food (yes KFC is homefood cause sweden ant got no KFC), you go crazy. We saw this NFC shop and immediately went crazy and bought fried chicken for breakfast. KFC you're safely still the best, this NFC has much to learn. Interesting fact: you can get white rice instead of fries at NFC, btw i dont even know what NFC stands for.
DONT BLAME IT ON THE BOOGIE!!! yes swedish tax is really high, i heard its 25%?
Okay this is actually supposed to be a regular joe meal for two swedes as you can only see two drinks but it took all 5 of us to finish eating it for breakfast.
Bus! the amusement park is not near the central station so you have to take a short bus trip to it.
this baby was so cute i just had to take a picture.
LISEBERG!! the thing with amusement parks is that you know when you see it! just the people, the excitement, the screaming kids/adults, feels great
stacy and the mascot of liseberg, the rabbit of your nightmares
the start of our adventure in liseburg, notice how park like it feels
Whats amusement parks without some amusement
Flea market along the road going towards all the wonderful rides weee
The crowd here looks really bad but thank God the longest wait for a ride was only 20minutes
We spotted the tallest ride in liseburg and made a beeline for it, this is the escalator just bringing us there. x2 escalators btw
This was the view before being seated on the death row seats, its so high you cant see it
So that was the most freaky ride i have ever sat i tell you, the name is atmosfear which is pretty punny. The free fall was so fast i was unconscious for the first few seconds the first time i sat it ( we sat twice) and it was only one drop down and not like drop halfway then go back up again kinda fall, just a straight pummeling force as if sending all us sinners to hell. The second time we sat it i swear i had to keep looking onto the horizon so as not to have a panic attack as my legs were dangling off the seat gosh it was so so high.
Next up was this viking variation which was not as scary, its kinda like after you eat worms and beehoon was being fed to you. No kick.
Didnt get to sit this ferris wheel but it looked really pretty against the blue hue of the vast sky
After the Atmosphere opened our appetite for more thrilling rides we went for this ride called the UPP SKJUTET (or sth like that) which was a similar free fall ride but yawn, atmosphere is still the best
All the excited boys and girls
rides with this shoulder safety feature make me feel so much more secure than those which is just a tiny pole across your waist. might as well ask me to grip with my hand only
liseburg and the glorious weather, THANK YOU GOD
this is a really pretty carousel where mostly kids were queuing up for it, Jenzi has a pretty funny video of us on that ride where the station master was like shouting at her to stop using her camera.
Just a giant top in the sky
Kanonen!!! i believe its like canon in swedish, excited for the roller coaster woot woot
everyone still looking very much undaunted by the rides! okay maybe joel doesnt look particularly well here but he did all the rides!
look at the twirls (ok theres only 1)
Put yr hands in the sky
The real winner of this prize is actually Jh who is behind Stacy. JH won it through some catapult game! pro stuff ! o btw the prize is a snake hisssss
This was another roller coaster queue and what was interesting was that it was constructed out of wood and not steel! reminded me of the roller coaster map in left for dead 2. I love this ride the most, i forgot the name but theres only one wooden roller coaster ride in liseberg, do sit it!
In liseburg there are so many of these betting game stations where you can bet on a number and if god of candy has his eye on you then you win candy!
featuring our lucky winner: stacy tan! thats 2kg worth of chocolates omg
theres this arcade inside too, where you can pay to gamble.
BUmper cars!! okay so our rule was that JH and Joel would chase stacy, jenzi and I and if we got hit by them 6 times we would have to do a forfeit. We got hit so many times so we had to carry that 2kg chocolate. yes that was the forfeit lol, carrying the chocolate
Roller coasters and more roller coasters
Corn on a stick! it says corn plus drink for 40sek which is 8 bucks. NOT CHEAP
After doing so many rides we decided to take a chill pill, notice how the crowd has died down too
Time for that ferris wheel
The walk to the ferris wheel was like walking through an enchanted garden of strange handprints left by people i dont know and over elaborate staircases
I have no idea what JH is doing to Joel hahahaah
serious picture then jenzi do funny face, btw that bag joel is holding was one of his wins! it says "bad Boy" hahahaha
Nothing to do on ferris wheel, spam pictures of the city
Me being really excited for every ride as always
Joel and his prize
from this angle it looks quite scary actually
this big box became a burden after awhile but still it made us look cool so we carry it
at the more demure part of the amusement park, away from the rides and more into the restaurants district
That was one of the "chinese" rides we sat, europeans always trying to inject something oriental
We sat the wet ride also, look at us all fully prepared for the splash. Jenzi and stacy donning their leather jackets and me hiding behind them LOL
Only reason i can so safely raise my hands is cause i have two brave girls shielding me from the water
we were there till it was getting really dark, liseburg doesnt operate till late so we were just walking around
this children's playground got me mad excited
A little girl actually took these pictures for us! i guess we didnt trust her thats why all eyes are on another camera held by her mother (jenzi's cam)
all the rides that liseberg has! i can proudly say we sat all the "big kids" ride
Liseberg is the most fun i have had in a while, going crazy on rides, with great company and excitement everywhere. I love amusement parks because its someplace i am allowed to become a child again, to eat ice creams for lunch and to fly in the air as in defying gravity. Its like a magical place where my greatest fear is the fear of heights and nothing else. If i can do it again, i would. Liseberg, best amusement park i have been to.
